Sharon Rennick is the founder of RSMK Medical-Legal Consulting. She is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant with over 22 years of clinical experience in providing full-range of nursing care to patients and families of all ages from economically and culturally diverse populations. Areas of expertise include Orthopedics, Neurosurgical and Medical-Surgical Nursing. She provides expert review and testimony in her areas of expertise for both Plaintiff and Defense. During 2006 and 2007, she has served as Secretary of the Board of AALNC-San Diego Chapter and as Co-Chairperson of the Education Committee. She continues serving on the Board of AALNC-San Diego Chapter as President – Elect and will assume the role of President in 2009. |

Robert L Erb,

Robert Erb has over thirty-eight years of diverse clinical and administrative healthcare experience, Robert’s experience also includes conducting field level medical research for WHO and CDC in tropical illnesses in the role of epidemiologist. His scope of knowledge includes healthcare administrative, emergency medicine and psychiatric/ mental health. Robert describes himself as an educator with demonstrated ability to convey both small details and the overall picture. He is currently employed by Sharp Healthcare in Role of Psychiatric Liaison Consulting Nurse, Educator and Regulation/Compliance resource. He has been in the LNC field for the past 15 years and is co-owner of an independent practice Eagle Professional Management Services focused on Risk/Quality Management, Compliance/ Regulatory, Federal/State Survey and providing consulting and testifying expertise for both plaintiff and defense firms. He has worked closely with numerous healthcare facilities and third parties in many states. Authored and co-authored several chapters on legal and ethical practice in clinical settings for leading professional textbooks.

MarSue has been a registered nurse for 16 years. Her clinical background includes Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. In 2002 MarSue established an independent Legal Nurse Consulting firm, Source4 Medical-Legal Consulting. She holds advanced certifications in Legal Nurse Consulting and also maintains advanced knowledge and certifications in CaseMap and Timemap software, whereby she is a certified trainer. MarSue has been a board member for the San Diego Chapter AALNC since 2004. |

Christina Sanders has been a registered nurse for more than 10 years and has worked as a nurse practitioner for the past 8 years. She started her nursing career in the emergency department and after completing her Masters degree in 2000, she began practicing as an adult nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology. Christina started her independent legal nurse consulting business, Nutricula Juris, in 2007 and is doing testifying expert work only at this time. She has been a member of the AALNC-San Diego Chapter since 2006.

Denise Colignon graduated with a BSN from Biola University in 1995. She has experience in the ICU and PACU and has worked at Loma Linda, OC Juvenile Hall as the intake nurse, Orangewood Home for Abused Children, Cedar Sinai, UCI Medical Center and was a Charge RN at Kaiser. Recently Denise quit her job with Kaiser to work full-time as an LNC/LCP. |

K. DeAnn Taylor, RN has 17 years of clinical nursing experience, primarily in the areas of critical care, cardiology and the cardiac cath lab. She has been a successful independent Legal Nurse Consultant since starting her own business, KDT Consulting, in 1997, with her practice focusing on medical malpractice and product liability defense, and most recently insurance fraud. She is an active member of the San Diego Chapter of AALNC, has served as secretary, membership chair and director at large, and was the 2006 president of the San Diego Chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. |

Karen Wetther,

Karen Wetther has been an R.N. since 1971 and a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) since 1983. She is a founding member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, both the national organization and the San Diego Chapter. She has served on the Board of Directors of both also. After almost seven years as a full-time in-house consultant for a San Diego personal injury law firm, she started an independent LNC business, Medical Legal Resources, consulting with attorneys on the medical aspects of their cases and conducting training workshops for nurses nationwide (the latter from 1987 to 1994). She developed and has been the Coordinator and a faculty member for the Legal Nurse Consulting Certificate Program at the University of California, San Diego, Extension Studies Division since its inception in 1994 She consults with both plaintiff and defense attorneys on a variety of cases, including personal injury, medical malpractice, toxic torts, products liability, and criminal. She has authored and co-authored chapters in the text Legal Nurse Consulting: Principles & Practice.” |

Gerrie James,

Gerrie James has 26 years of nursing experience. She has successfully integrated her 20 years of medical/surgical, oncology and labor/delivery clinical experiences with other areas unique to health care such as corporate compliance, quality, case management, and risk. Currently, and over the past six years, Gerrie has worked as the sole clinical member of a lawyer led Corporate Compliance team. She understands how to recognize if health care services and subsequent claim submission is compliant with Federal/State laws. Linking quality of care with corporate compliance she walks carefully through health care records, exposing potential or actual breach in care as well as suspected fraud relative to gross charges, In/Out Patient procedure codes assignment and ultimately, the final bill that “went out the door.” Gerrie holds advanced certification in Coding [CCS - Certified Coding Specialist], Corporate Compliance [CCP-Certified Compliance Professional] and Certified Professional Utilization Review [CPUR]. She received a BSN from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, and an MSN from San Diego State University, San Diego, CA. Professional memberships include; American Health Information Management Association [AHIMA], member/speaker for the California Health Information Management Association [CHIA], American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators (AANAC-LTC) and American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants [National/Local Organization]. |

Marsha Anderson,

Marsha Anderson has been an RN for 15 years. The majority of her experience has been in the NICU but also includes experience in PICU, pediatrics, adolescents, mother/baby, pediatric home health and Emergency Department. Marsha spent 3 years as a clinical supervisor in a 36 bed level 3 NICU. She obtained her CLNC in April 2007 and has started her own business, Our Legal Nurse Consultants, LLC. Marsha is involved with both plaintiff and defense work, primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, criminal cases and products liability, and acts as a testifying expert in the NICU realm only. She has been a certified CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) instructor for the last ten years. Professional memberships include: American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) both locally and nationally, she is currently serving locally as marketing co-chair and Director At Large, National Association of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants (NACLNC), National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee (CNA/NNOC) and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce (SDRCC). |

Karen Harmon,

Karen has been in the nursing profession for over 20 years and currently is the Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist on the Perinatal Special Care Unit at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women here in San Diego. Prior to this position, Karen was the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Labor & Delivery and High Risk Obstetrics at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Diego. Karen has functioned in a variety of roles over her career from staff nurse, to charge nurse, to nurse manager, clinical instructor for SDSU, and now Clinical Nurse Specialist. Her primary passion and focus has been in the area of fetal monitoring and has recently participated in the revision of the newest addition of AWHONN’s Fetal Monitoring textbook due out in 2009. She has been active as a Legal Nurse Consultant for over 6 years, and has been an active and participative member of the San Diego Chapter of Legal Nurse Consultants.

Connie Paine ,

Connie has worked in the hospital setting for 36 years, graduating from Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. (you did have to be Swedish to attend or be blond!) She worked the first 15 years in med/surg, then completed the Grossmont College ICU certification course in 1988 and has been working in critical care at Alvarado Hospital since then.
She has also cross-trained and worked part time in NICU and interventional radiology. Connie is married to a middle school teacher and has two sons, age 18 and 14. For fun, she sings bass with the San Diego Sweet Adeline chorus and just came back from Honolulu where the chorus placed 7th internationally.
This chapter of AALNC has been so valuable to me in the form of mentors, contacts and education that I am anxious to contribute to this dynamic group of professionals. |

Liz has been a certified nurse life care planner and case manager in private practice for 20 years and a member of SDAALNC for 10 years. Having met some of our membership in person and many others over the list serve these past years, she welcomes the opportunity to make a contribution of service to SDAALNC. For her, the best source of business development over the years has occurred through networking with colleagues, such as that fostered through this organization. |

Stephanie has been an RN for 32 years in a wide variety of clinical and administrative positions in hospitals and HMO's. Her education includes a BSN and a master's in health administration. She has worked as an LNC on a part-time basis in Colorado for five years and became certified 6 months ago. Having recently relocated to San Diego, she is striving to become a full-time legal nurse consultant and has discovered the AALNC as an incredible source of inspiration and support! |
